1. Try holding these two thoughts together: I am unique and how I live my life makes a difference to the rest of the planet - AND - I am a tiny speck on the surface of the universe.
How does that make you feel? Expansive? Joyful? Hopeful? Focussed? Or something quite else?
It seems to me it's important to take yourself seriously in the sense of being confident and valuing yourself , but not so seriously that you become obsessed with 'getting it right' - focus on your goals in a playful way.
When did you last have fun - I mean, really losing yourself in the delight of the moment fun? It was probably connected to creativity in some way.
2. Try this: Ask friends round for a celebration - make something up, it doesn't matter what. Have the guideline that each person introduces an activity e.g. singing, dancing, reading a poem, a guessing game, telling a story. Something which helps people to free up.
3. Try this: get in touch with a suppressed part of your personality, give her/him a name; talk to this part regularly.
4. Try this: communicate with your pets/bears/plants
Regard these activities as equally as important as sitting down and checking your emails or designing a piece of work. They are. These are the sorts of activities which help you to lead a balanced life, to tread the middle way, being confident in who you are and in your own abilities whilst also maintaining an awareness that you are a tiny speck on the surface of the universe.
BE FOCUSSED - HAVE FUN
