        <![CDATA[<p>&nbsp;- Do you long for more confidence so that you could deal effectively with all situations which present themselves and always feel good about yourself?</p><p>&nbsp;- Would you&nbsp;love to gain competency in Assertion Skills so that&nbsp;you ensure all the&nbsp;situations in your life are win-win i.e. that everyone benefit?.</p><p>&nbsp;- Do you yearn to be your wonderful authentic self always and not pretend?</p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp; All these are skills which can be learnt. Some, it's true, are born with more self-esteem and more self.-confidence than others. But truly they are skills which can be built up like any others. So why is it that, in general, folks put more energy and time into learning all sorts of other skills, from language competency to craft to gardening----- ? Perhaps it is because the skills I'm talking about encompass a more personal element. We are a particular way e.g. fearful, negative, because of past life circumstances and experiences.&nbsp;However much we say we'd like to change this,&nbsp;doing so&nbsp;can be scary. It impinges on our deepest, hidden selves. It is, of course, also exciting and fun!</p><p>&nbsp; The key, then, is to know how you'd like your life to be different. What is your vision? And then work back from there. What skills do you need to learn in order to attain this? Know what is most important. Also&nbsp;be clear what your values&nbsp;are. You may wonder how this might&nbsp;combat stress. Here's an example: if Peace is important to you, you may think twice about getting angry about something small; if Happiness is important to you, you won't want to spend a lot of energy on thinking about something which makes you feel unhappy. This sounds pretty obvious, but---it happens. Another example - If you need to write a report or article by a deadline, you won't want to spend a lot of time checking your emails!</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #800080"><span style="font-size: larger"><strong><span style="color: #800080">2.&nbsp; ENERGISE </span></strong><span style="color: #800080">your goals and priorities. Make sure you spend the majority of your time and energy on these. It is easy to get distracted and do other things first 'to get them out of the way', sometimes leaving little or no time left for that on which you truly wish to focus.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #800080"><span style="font-size: larger"><span style="color: #800080"><strong>3.&nbsp; DISCOVER </strong>what is important. Draw a circle or a box. Make 'compartments' and, in each one, write down something which is important to you. This could be a quality (e.g. Health); an object (e.g. my car); a goal (to finish my book); or a person. Then take a look at how much time you spend on each of these; for some it may be none; for some, it may be too much! Adjust accordingly. Oh, and remember to include time for yourself!</span></span></span></p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>It's up to you how you create this holiday period. Many find it stressful, as they rush around trying to get everything done. Ask yourself, do you really want to travel miles to see someone you don't really want to see? Rather than frantically trying to find the 'right present', would sitting&nbsp; down and talking and listening with someone be the best present?</p><p>1. Be honest. What would be the most nurturing way in which you could spend this time?</p><p>2. What do you want from it - fun, good communication, rest? By the way, these things are free!</p><p>3. Once you know this, identify how you can make this happen.</p><p>4.&nbsp; It can be useful to spend time reflecting on the past year - what went well, what didn't. What might you learn? And planning for the year ahead. The darkness and the energy of the season lend themselves to this reflection, and you will reap the rewards later on.</p><p>5.&nbsp; Do some special nurturing of yourself - something which you don't usually make time for or allow yourself to do; like spending the morning in bed with a good book!</p><p>6. Remember there are a lot of lonely people around at this time of year. How might you help someone - a neighbour, an animal, someone else?</p><p>7. What do you want most in 2012? After all, who knows you best? <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">You</i> do, of course &ndash; you have spent every second of your life with yourself. So practice approving of yourself! Clearly, giving yourself negative messages will undermine your confidence and prevent you from taking positive steps in your life.<o:p></o:p></font></span></i></b></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 18pt"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><span style="font-size: 14pt"><font face="Times New Roman">Reverse these messages. Begin to build a bank of positive messages to tell yourself. It is important that these messages are short and in the present tense. Know that the other person will survive if you say no to them. Deep down you know &ndash; it&rsquo;s just a matter of tuning in to it. Then practice making that choice; not with complete disregard for others&rsquo; needs, of course not. And know that successful people have been unsuccessful first. It is up to me to find a way of expressing this in the world in such a way that the world benefits and I feel fulfilled. If you don't listen to yourself, you'll likely stay stuck, grumpy, annoyed, whatever it is. <br />&nbsp;&nbsp; Make sure you listen to your heart as well as to your head and nurture yourself at all times. It's counter-productive if you don't as you won't be in your own flow and won't be at your best.</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="color: #800080">&nbsp;</span><span> It takes courage and confidence to live in this way, acknowledging that you know better than anyone else what is right for you at any given moment. It sometimes feels easier to just go along with everyone else, but, in the long run, that is at a cost to yourself.         <![CDATA[<p><span style="color: #800080"><strong>How </strong><strong>your day goes has lots to do with you. What can you do to maximise the pleasure and effectiveness of it? LOTS - LOOK!</strong></span></p><p><span style="color: #800080"><strong>&nbsp;1.&nbsp; First thing in the morning, almost before you awake, ask yourself what sort of day you want and answer this question e.g. 'I want a peaceful day' or 'I&nbsp;want a fun day.' Then just carry on with your day.<br />&nbsp;2.&nbsp; Make sure you do some stretching exercises first thing too - even it it is only for a few minutes. It helps awaken your body and&nbsp;your mind.<br />3.&nbsp; Give yourself a quick massage; this is a great way of saying hello to yourself. Stroke your arms, legs, feet, face, head--- Tap your head lightly too - stimulates the brain!<br />4.&nbsp; Sit down quietly for at least a few minutes with a candle flame. Use this time to get quiet inside; to appreciate what you have in your life already; and to&nbsp;tune in to what you want to create.<br />5.&nbsp; Throughout the day, be kind to yourself, listen to your needs and honour your achievements.</strong></span></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]>
